Homie in Grok. One command, or one message.

One command in Grok Build. One message to Grok Bot. In the Grok app, Homie is a connector you add once.

The fastest way in

Pick the one you use.

Grok Build

  1. grok plugin install homie-rocks/homie#plugins/homie

Grok shows where the plugin comes from and asks whether to trust it. Its skills and its MCP server load once you do. Start a new session afterwards. Checked on Grok Build 1.0.41.

Grok Bot

Grok Bot is xAI’s desktop app. Homie is not in its plugin list, so send it one message:

  1. Read https://homie.rocks/install.md and install Homie, then set up a game studio called Night Owls and make a multiplayer game.

Checked 2026-10-04: from that one message it installed Homie on its own computer, made the studio, built a game, passed the two-browser check and stopped at the Cloudflare approval.

The Grok app

grok.com/connectors, then New Connector, then Custom, with the address https://homie.rocks/mcp.

These are the steps xAI’s own documentation gives for adding a connector.

A studio needs Node.js 22 or later on the computer it lives on.

Then

Say one sentence.

“Set up a game studio called Night Owls and make a multiplayer game.”

  1. What you will see

A checklist, ticked as it goes: the setup status, the studio, the plan, the build. The moment two browsers finish a round together you get a link to play. Then it goes on to sound, art and the playtest’s fixes, and says what it is doing. In Grok Build it all comes as text: Homie draws no cards there.

  2. What it asks you

Homie’s holds run in Grok Build once you trust the plugin (plugin 0.32.1 or later). Then a deploy, a Cloudflare change, an edit to a protected file, spending past your budget and a model download wait until you answer proceed with the code it shows, and secrets are taken out of what Grok reads. Checked on Grok Build 1.0.46: Grok’s own log shows Homie’s three hooks loaded and run, and a deploy was held before it started. An older plugin held nothing there; update it with grok plugin update. The setup status says “Homie’s holds: on” or “off”. Not checked in Grok Bot.

  3. Going online

One approval: Cloudflare opens in your browser, you sign in or make an account, and approve. Your studio runs on your own account, and your AI tells you first what it will create there: what it costs. Nothing is listed in the homie.rocks directory unless you ask.

Another AI? Every way in. What a studio is and what it creates: Make a studio. Setting up a site for a business or a non-profit instead: Make your own. Bugs and questions: github.com/homie-rocks/homie/issues.
